Look at Tom Brown, Lawrenceville Stories, Harry Potter, Earthsea Trilogy, Red Planet, Space Cadet, etc. etc.</p> <p>I'm not so sure about having your protagonist be rich, though. Think a poor one would engender more sympathy...and you can even have the interesting point of showing how the current (tax shielded and avoiding) rich of the blue states are becoming more and more liberal. Sorta like in that movie GREEN CARD, where the bum actually knew the truth from his experience and was more conservative than the rich liberal (and naive, sheltered) girl.</p> I think “school” is a powerful common thing that is of interest to many.
