Now, it's not the most scientific thing I've ever done, but it's obvious that there's no correlation. It was navigated several times when it was much colder than it is now. Especially 1969, at the end of the last cooling cycle, when average temperatures were at their lowest for several decades.</p> <p>It seems that they really can't use the opening of the NWP to indicate high temperatures.
